Zoonosis<\/strong>\u00a0are contagious diseases and infections that are transmitted directly or indirectly\u00a0transmitted between animals and humans<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Zoonoses always require an animal host, or reservoir, to infect humans. The causative agents of the disease are\u00a0bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites<\/strong>, which enter the human body in a variety of ways:\u00a0by inhalation, by ingestion, by injection<\/em>\u00a0(through the skin) \u2026<\/p>\n

It is common in Slovenia\u00a0zoonosis<\/strong>\u00a0for example\u00a0tick-borne meningoencephalitis (meningitis)<\/em>. In his case, these reservoirs are small mammals, mice, voles, deer and red deer. We cannot become infected with meningitis directly from mice or deer. A vector must enter the transmission cycle \u2013 that is, a tick as a carrier, which fed on, for example, a mammal and then sucked on us and perhaps transmitted the meningitis virus to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • bacterial zoonoses<\/b>\u00a0(listeriosis, salmonellosis, brucellosis, borreliosis, campylobacteriosis, botulism, leptospirosis, psittacosis, tuberculosis, yersiniosis, ... ),<\/li>\n
  • parasitic zoonoses<\/b>\u00a0(echinococcosis, trichinosis, anisakiasis, cryptospiridiosis, cysticercosis, toxoplasmosis, ...).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Paths where animals and humans cross paths allow for the transmission of diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the practice\u00a0good<\/em>\u00a0hygiene\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0biosecurity<\/em>\u00a0and thereby limit the transmission of zoonoses. Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces is one of the basic and most powerful weapons against dangerous microbes.<\/p>\n
