Zoonoses are infectious diseases that are transmitted between animals and humans.

Zoonosis are contagious diseases and infections that are transmitted directly or indirectly transmitted between animals and humans.

Zoonoses always require an animal host, or reservoir, to infect humans. The causative agents of the disease are bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites, which enter the human body in a variety of ways: by inhalation, by ingestion, by injection (through the skin) …

It is common in Slovenia zoonosis for example tick-borne meningoencephalitis (meningitis). In his case, these reservoirs are small mammals, mice, voles, deer and red deer. We cannot become infected with meningitis directly from mice or deer. A vector must enter the transmission cycle – that is, a tick as a carrier, which fed on, for example, a mammal and then sucked on us and perhaps transmitted the meningitis virus to us.

Examples of zoonoses:

  • viral zoonoses (hepatitis A virus, influenza virus, coronavirus, rabies, calicivirus, ...),
  • bacterial zoonoses (listeriosis, salmonellosis, brucellosis, borreliosis, campylobacteriosis, botulism, leptospirosis, psittacosis, tuberculosis, yersiniosis, ... ),
  • parasitic zoonoses (echinococcosis, trichinosis, anisakiasis, cryptospiridiosis, cysticercosis, toxoplasmosis, ...).
Paths where animals and humans cross paths allow for the transmission of diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the practice good hygiene and biosecurity and thereby limit the transmission of zoonoses. Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces is one of the basic and most powerful weapons against dangerous microbes.

V Medicine for Veterinarians we offer you spectrum of protection agents from microbes.

Among them are two products that are effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms.

1. DioksiLEK® is a highly effective disinfectant for a wide range of applications in the form of a two-component system for quick and easy preparation of chlorine dioxide solution at the point of use.

It is effective against viruses, bacteria, fungi and algae.

We use it to disinfect drinking water for humans and animals, and to disinfect surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
